How to Relief from Sore Throat?
A sore throat is one of the most common of medical complaints. It can be caused by bacteria or viruses. Learn about how to get rid of a sore throat without using antibiotics, which are normally not necessary, even when treating strep throat. Here are a few tips to make a sore throat go away even quicker.
Sore throat is a symptom of a viral infection like cold and flu. It can also be a symptom of allergies and other forms of infections. It is an inflammation or infection of the pharynx accompanied with discomfort, pain, or scratchiness in the throat. A sore throat is infectious in most cases and can be spread through coughing and sneezing. As a result, eating and drinking becomes a painful task. The voice tends to become scratchy which makes speaking difficult.
Other causes of sore throat include tonsillitis, mumps, sinusitis, measles, diphtheria, leukemia, excessive smoking, talking loudly and shouting. Some of the most common symptoms of sore throat are irritation of throat, chills and fever, pain, swollen and tender lymph glands and difficulty in swallowing.
How to get rid of Sore Throat:
- Warm one cup of water and add half tea spoon of salt. Be sure that the water is not too hot to burn you. Mix out the salt until it is almost dissolved.
- Rinse your mouth and gargle your throat with the salt water solution in the same way you would with a mouth wash. Do this 3 - 4 times.
- Another effective remedy to end you problem in 24 hours is mango bark. You can mix a small amount with water and gargle several times.
- Drinking a lot of fluids will help you get rid of a sore throat. Once you get rid of your sore throat, get rid of your toothbrush as it may cause the sore throat to return.
- Add 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to a cup of warm water. Gargle, spit out, and then swallow a mouthful. Keep doing this until you finish the entire cup. Repeat this process every hour. This can usually get rid of a sore throat within 3-4 hour
- If you're an adult, spray a throat spray containing numbing agents into the back of your throat.
- Drink ice-cold beverages. Try filling a glass half-full of crushed ice; then pour fruit juice over the ice. Let it sit for 10 minutes, insert a straw and suck slowly, letting the juice rest a minute on the back of your throat.
- Avoid cigarette smoke and other airborne irritants.
- Eat soft or liquid foods, especially sherbets and chicken broth.
