Kidney Stones Pain Relief – How To Be Pain Free

Are you suffering from kidney stones?  Kidney stones pain relief is possible with home treatment that can work within 24 hours.  This article covers what most people believe about treating kidney stones, both at home or through a doctor.

Kidney stones can cause moderate to severe pain. Kidney stones pain relief can be as simple as taking over the counter medication, or requiring stronger medications that only the doctor can prescribe. The pain caused by kidney stones is usually in proportion to how large the stones are, but this can change if the stone is small, but in a very sensitive place.

Immediate kidney stones pain relief can be sought by taking plenty of fluids, and to staying away from salt. Physical activity such as jumping up and down can sometimes loosen the stones, helping them to pass more quickly. Taking a hot bath or placing the heating pad on the area is also a way to bring immediate relief.

Over the counter medications, like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), are very effective in providing kidney stones pain relief. Ibuprofen or naproxen are common NSAIDs that are available over the counter. Drugs like acetaminophen and aspirin can be used with the NSAIDs, but should only be mixed under a doctor's care. People that want to take over the counter medication for moderate kidney stone pain should still consult a doctor to find out the correct dosages for mixing the drugs and the prescribed times they should be taken.

Kidney stones pain relief can also come in the form of a visit to the doctor's office. A doctor can run the tests that are necessary to find the stone and determine its size. This will lead to a decisive course of treatment that will alleviate pain and get rid of the stone. The size of the stone will determine the course of treatment. A doctor can prescribe a higher dose of Ibuprofen than what is currently available over the counter. A doctor can also prescribe opioid analgesics such as Tylenol with codeine, Vicodin (a combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen), Percocet (oxycodone combined with acetaminophen) or Darvon (propoxyphene) for more severe pain. Again, a doctor should be notified of any allergic reactions to any of these drugs. It is possible to become dependent on opioid analgesics if used for an extended period. Kidney stones pain relief should be sought through removal of the stone as soon as possible.

For the people suffering from more severe cases, kidney stones pain relief can come from the emergency room. Doctors will run tests and wait for results, but when the results have determined that kidney stones are the cause for the pain, medication can be administered and a course of treatment can be decided on.

The effects of the medication can start to work within minutes, even seconds if the medication is given through an IV. These medications can include morphine, Dilaudid and Toradol, so doctors should be notified in cases of allergies or intolerances to these drugs before they are administered.

Kidney stones pain relief should be sought as soon as possible to avoid emergency situations. If over the counter pain relievers, hot baths and heating pads do not bring the desired relief, a trip to the doctor's office is recommended since it may be a signal that more help is needed to deal with the problem.

How can i get hydrocodone?

*i think that is how it's spelt*

But i get migraines every now and then and my sister recently gave me one of her hydrocodone pills and it helped a lot. Over the counter stuff doesn't work and i dont get migraines often enough to get that one pill that stops them or whatever it does. But will me getting migraines every so often get me hydrocodone? if not, what will?
..legally :]
i know you need a prescription for it

I feel you on that and I have done just about anything you can think of to try and get my doctor to give me more hydrococone, but the truth is that this drug will make migraines worse. I have read the studies myself. There are drugs that work much better at stopping a migraine such as the drug Relpax without intoxication and there are drugs you can take on a daily basis like Topomax to prevent the migraine from ever happening in the first places. My doctor finally ended up putting me on the black list and instructed his nurse practitioners and colleagues to never prescribe me an opiate again and also told me if he finds out I am going to the ER for headaches he will fire me as a patient.
